"He who spends too much time pondering life's many questions, spends less time painting and drinking."
- Someone wiser than us
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What if I have never painted before?
Not a problem. (Seriously.) A Splash Artist will walk you through the featured painting of the session, so you can follow along if you want some ideas about colors or techniques. Plus, it's a bar, so even if you're just there to be inspired by the art, you'll still have a good time.
Do I need to sign up in advance?
It helps a lot when we know how many canvases we'll need. Then you're sure to have a spot when you come in, too. Browse our calendar to pick your painting and date, or feel free to send us an email if you still have questions before you're ready to reserve.
If I come with a friend or group of friends, can we sit together?
Absolutely. We'll assume that multiple people on the same reservation will want to sit together. If you are reserving separately, just give us a heads up in the notes section when you make your reservations. We'll make it happen.
How much does a Splash Session cost?
Friday nights, Saturday afternoons, and Saturday nights are $33 per person. All other times are $28 per person. Everything you need is included - canvas, easel, paint, brushes, and apron. You get to take your painting home at the end, and we do the cleanup. Oh, and we're a no tipping establishment. That's right, no tips. Get yourself another drink instead.
SHOULD I PLAN TO TIP THE ARTIST?
Nope, see above. Splash is a no tipping zone, and that goes for the bartender too. So enjoy it... and we'll give you great service either way.
ARE THERE ANY AGE RESTRICTIONS?
Ages 15 and older are welcome at Splash. Minors (ages 15-17) should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
CAN I BUY DRINKS DURING THE SESSION?
Yep. We serve up mixed drinks, specialty cocktails, beer, and wine at your beck and call. We also have soda and juice available. (You must be 21 years old to consume alcoholic beverages. We require identification from anyone ordering alcohol.) No outside beverages may be brought in.

HOW LONG IS THE SESSION?
About three hours, with a few scattered breaks.
DO I HAVE TO PAINT THE ARTWORK THAT IS SCHEDULED?
Paint whatever you like. (Except your neighbor.)
DO I HAVE TO PAINT AT ALL?
If you're not quite ready to paint this time, that's okay too. Come on in, pull up a drafting stool at the bar, and just absorb the creative energy around you. You can even relax and have a drink next to your friend/spouse/coworker who is painting, as long as we don't need that seat for a painter.
WHAT IS A MINI-PAINTING?
Mini-paintings are tiny slices of Splash Studio heaven all wrapped up in a 6"x6" canvas ($10), or an 11"x14" canvas ($20). Mini-paintings can be done at the bar, in our dedicated mini-painting gallery, or on our outdoor patio. Mini-paintings are first-come, first-served, and we don't take advance reservations for minis. (We do allow call ahead seating as early as an hour prior to your arrival; call 414.882.7621 to be added to the Call Ahead List.)
You're on your own for the painting technique, but there are plenty of ways to get inspired. May we recommend a book from our art library, or perhaps a Miller High Life?
Can I come in and do a mini-painting during a session?
You sure can. Remember, we're a bar, so come on in whenever you want (well, whenever we're open).
Can I make a reservation to Mini-paint?

Feel free to call us at 414.882.7621 as early as 60 minutes prior to your arrival, and if we have immediate seating available, we will get everything set up for you so that you'll be ready to rock when you get here.
Is this real life?
I know this sounds too good to be true, but yes, this is real life.
What should I wear?
You'll get an apron when you check in. Plus, all the paints are water-based acrylics and they wash off easily. So go ahead, wear your favorite sweater/pair of jeans/prom dress.
