While few sheep breeds are native to Ireland, the landscape of Donegal is well known for its mountainous hillsides covered with grazing sheep. Most notable of the sheep breeds of Donegal are the Black-Faced Mountain sheep.
This painting is meant to celebrate the Irish countryside and highlight the unique beauty of sheep. Painters will be challenged to mix a variety of shades of green to achieve the smooth backgrounds of the painting and will have fun painting in all the grazing sheep. From the little white blobs of wool in the distance to the more detailed sheep of the foreground, each will require a different level of care.
