Mizuchi was commissioned in the spring of 2015 for a special event with Kanpai restaurant in Milwaukee. The painting uses the Japanese dragon as its focal point and uses bright colors to bring the dragon to life.
Local artist John Kowalczyk used solid colors in his design to minimize the color mixing and make the painting stand out more prominently when hung on a wall.
Fun Fact: The main difference between Japanese dragons and Chinese dragons are the number of toes with which the creatures are depicted. Japanese dragons usually have three while Chinese dragons have four.
